We have recently installed OPC-Netlistener and are using the ICMP/PING functionality to monitor several devices on our network. We are observing some behavior that is causing us problems:
1) When monitoring a device that is connected the server usually returns a "1" status. However, it will occasionally return a "0". During the same time period we observe this we ran a continuous ping from the same computer running OPC-Netlistener and there were no lost packets (>2000 packets). Typical ping response time 2ms, max 12ms.
2) When monitoring a device that is not connected the server usually returns a "0" status. However, it will occasionally return a "1". During the same time period we observe this we ran a continuous ping from the same computer running OPC-Netlistener and all responses were "Request Timed Out".
System details:
- Windows Server 2012 R2
- OPC-Netlistener is installed as a service and we are using version 2.32
- There are three network adapters on the machine on different subnets
- Machine is a virtual machine running on VMWare ESXi
These fluctuating signals are causing us difficulties setting up alarms on these statuses.
ICMP Ping Status - Fluctuating between 0 & 1
Re: ICMP Ping Status - Fluctuating between 0 & 1
I will test it with 3 adapters.

Hello,
I couldn't find any error. Is there something special on your configuration. Which client do you use? Can you try with another one only to verify that it is not the client which causes the problem?
