Non-standard account

Synchronize your Outlook on two or more machines. OLFolderSync works in the background through e-mail and can be password protected.
OLFolderSync does not require a server.

Non-standard account

Post by JosSchaars »

Can OLFolderSync be configured to use another than the standard email account?

Why:
3 persons have the same standard account info@... and are retreiving the mail from a pop account, leaving the mail at the server so they all see the mail sent to info@...
Info@... is the standard account because most of the mail goes by this address (sending, replying)

They also have a personal account user1, user2, user3@...
They want to sync the tasks, so user1, user2 and user3 are setup to sync using the email addresses user1,user2,user3@...
Sofar so good, but OLFolderSync sends the sync emails from info@..., not user1/2/3@..., so ithey are rejected when received because info@... is not in the list of syncs.

Hello,

No, that's not working in this version. You can only change the "from" addess field in registry, but this will not help in your case. But, why you don't make a new account for each of the persons and set this to standard. You can have still the other mails to.

Thanks for your reply.

The persons already have an own account, but the info@... has to be the default account because most mail has to be sent and replied from this account (in effect this mail address).
So OLFolderSync also sends the sync mail with this account/mail address.
One workaround would be to include the info@... in the list of mailaddresses to sync with, but than I need to filter the mails from info@... out with rules. Works, but not really nice, you get a bunch of messages in the Deleted Items box.
If the "from" address OLFolderSync uses could be set this would help a lot: I could ommit info@... from the lists and the sync mails would be sent from the real user1/23@... instead of info@...

Please try to make one String key in HKCU/Software/Somebytes/Config with name From and value is the address to use.

Hi Swen,

Already guested you ment HKCU/Software/Somebytes/OLFolderSync/Config. Added the key and it works.
Had a workaround with a macro using ItemSend to checkmails before they were sent and eventually removing the info@... recipient from the OLFolderSync mail. It worked, but was a bit cumbersome with adding and registering the macro.
Now I can also see where the synchronization mail came from (before it was always info@...).
Great, thanks a lot.
